Description
Through the innovative products manufactured by MasterMix a cost effective alternative was carried out to refurbish the existing manhole within the required shut down period.
Project details
- Client: Kapiti Coast District Council
- Date: February 2007
- Products: Rapid Repair and Armor
The existing 1.05m diameter x 1.9m deep sewer manhole had over the years suffered severe concrete deterioration due to high levels of hydrogen sulphide attack. The replacement of the manhole was not possible for KCDC due to a 4 hour maximum shutdown for the pump station.
Through the innovative products manufactured by MasterMix a cost effective alternative was carried out to refurbish the existing manhole within the required shut down period.
RAPID REPAIR was used to rebuild the damaged manhole walls then ARMOR on top to provide a waterproof, acid resistant surface which is designed to resist the challenging environment presented by the sewer manhole.
Independent laboratory tests for Rapid Repair show the following compressive strengths are be achieved:
+ 2 hours – 20.0MPa
+ 24 hours – 36.0MPa
+ 28 days – 45.0MPa
By building compression strength fast and having excellent adhesion qualities Rapid Repair provides the perfect foundation for Mastermix Armor to form a highly effective waterproof and acid resistant barrier on.
